Chilson Family

Thirty-seven years ago today I said, "I do!", and today I still "I do!"!  The years have been blessed with 14 children, 6 in-loves, and 13 grandchildren.  Not a day has gone by that has been a perfect day.  There is always some hic-cup or bump in the road, but we manage.   Marriage is work.  It is hard work.  But it is worth every bit of it.   This picture was taken at our surprise anniversary party last year.  M y daddy is sitting between Hubby and me.  I cried when I saw him sitting at the table.  He NEVER wanted to go out ANYWHERE!  But he came for ME!!!  One daughter was suppose to be at college in South Carolina...she made a trip home to celebrate us!  (ummm...so I notice that today I have on the same shirt as last year!!!!...if I knew we were going to be celebrated I sure would NOT have worn that!  But I guess that is how it goes with surprises!) The end of May and June, so far, has been very busy.  We have had Son #5's graduation reception  over Memorial Day weekend, celebrated my dad's birthday-- 86 on June 14-- celebrated Son #4's birthday-- 25 on June 15-- Son #2 and Daughter-in-love's anniversary --6 wonderful years on June 20-- Father's Day and Daughter-in-love #3's birthday today!  (Thrown in there was a total knee replacement for my younger sister!)  So... YAY! YOU DID IT SON #5! YOU COMPLETED YOUR REQUIREMENTS FOR GRADUATION AND WE CELEBRATE YOUR HARD WORK! xo    HAPPY 86th BIRTHDAY DADDY! WE LOVE YOU!! Today Hubby and I celebrate our thirty-first wedding anniversary!  It truly seems like it was only a few short years ago we were married.  The husband of my youth is the husband of my "old" age.  I would not have it any other way.  God has given me the perfect man for me.  He is a wonderful, godly husband and father. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY HUBBY! I LOVE YOU AND AM SO VERY THANKFUL THAT GOD GAVE YOU TO ME! XO  

This post is several days late.  Son #3 and his beautiful bride celebrated their 5th wedding anniversary on the ninth of this month.  Son #3 and Grandson K spent the day visiting with us.  Daughter-in-love #3 joined us after she got of work and along with Daughter #1 and Grandson E.  It was a fun evening.  We did not plan the evening as a celebration, but it is always a celebration when we are together as a family!! HAPPY ANNIVERSARY! MAY THE NEXT FIVE YEARS BE EVEN MORE SPECIAL THAN THE FIRST FIVE! WE LOVE YOU!! 

One thing about having a large family there is always something or someone to celebrate!  Some months there is more celebrating than others.  I have always tried to post the celebration on  the special day, but I am finding that I am stressing myself getting that done.  So, I figured it was time to play Elsa and "Let It Go". *smile*  (besides, believe it or not I only have one or two offspring who read my blog!) So the celebrations for this post: 1) Son #2 and Daughter-in-love #2 celebrated five years of marriage on June 20! HAPPY ANNIVERSAY! DADDY AND I PRAY THE NEXT FIVE YEARS ARE EVEN BETTER THAN THE FIRST FIVE! XO     2) Daughter-in-love #3 celebrated her birthday on June 21!   HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE! DADDY AND I TRUST YOUR DAY WAS AS SWEET AS YOU! XO   There is one more June celebration to come...stay tuned!  

Today Hubby and I celebrate our 30th anniversary!  WOW!  It does not seem possible!  I was a young bride of 19 when I got married, and though the mirror, clothes, and aches and pains tell me different, in my mind I still feel like 19; a very wise and mature nineteen! *smile* In thirty years of marriage we have given birth to 14 children, suffered 2 miscarriages, gone from driving our first car together, a little gray Chevette, to a 15 passenger van.  We have seen five children set out on their own, four children get married, 8 grandchildren welcomed into our family, many heartaches and more blessings than a body can count. I am so thankful that I was given this wonderful man.  He truly is the light of my life and my best friend. September 2013 (I tried to get a picture of us 30 years ago at our wedding, but I couldn't get it to work out!  Maybe later! ) Happy Anniversary Sweetheart! I love you! 

Four short years ago today, Son #2 became one with the love of  his life.  It is so hard to believe that these four years have gone by so quickly.  Through this union they have given us a beautiful granddaughter.  What a joy it is to see our offspring in the role of husband and father!  I must say, we are very partial to our daughter-in-love.  I can say that she truly is a daughter! Happy Anniversary Jason and Ashley! We love you!   {yes, they do have REAL names!} 

Yesterday afternoon Grandson E had a minor surgery at our local children's hospital to remove a cyst on his forehead near his left eye.  He did great, but it was bigger and deeper than the surgeon first thought.  He will have a nice little scar once he has healed completely.  I told him just to tell every that he and Huckleberry Finn were trying to save the Widow Douglas from her run away buggy!  Okay, at 16 months of age has no idea who Huckleberry Finn is let alone the Widow Douglas; nor that he is "playing" the role of Tom Sawyer.  Love the classics!  (I don't remember the Widow Douglas ever having a run away buggy either!)  Today Daughter #1 and Son-in-love #1 celebrate their 4th wedding anniversary.  We got the privilege of babysitting Grandson E while they celebrated at PF Changs. Happy Anniversay Meggie and Matt! Daddy and I love you!  

Today marks the one year anniversary of my mother's death.  It has been a hard year.  "They" say the first year is always the hardest.  I suppose it is, since it is the first of everything without your loved one. I know our family has only been able to make it through this year because of the Lord.  He has sustained us and comforted us.  Sometimes I thought it was wrong to cry for my mother.  But I know the Lord understands my tears.  He knows that my tears were not ones of anger, but out of missing someone who made a big impact on my life.  I miss the woman who made me and shaped me to who I am today.  I miss the woman who gave up a nursing career to stay home and raise a family. (And she never regretted it!)  She and my dad taught us to love God with all our hearts and were a great example to follow. Yesterday, 24 September, Hubby and I celebrated our 29th anniversary.  It really does not seem possible.  In my mind's eye I am still 19 years old and building a life with the man of my dreams.  Reality says, "Put your glasses on!"  I am no longer nineteen, but forty eight.  I am still building a life with the man of my dreams.  Our dreams of our life together have changed over the last 29 years, but it has been worth it. I am reminded of a song that Kenny Rogers used to sing, Through the Years. I can't remember when you weren't there When I didn't care for anyone but you I swear we've been through everything there is Can't imagine anything we've missed Can't imagine anything the two of us can't do Through the years, you've never let me down You turned my life around, the sweetest days I've found I've found with you ... Through the years I've never been afraid, I've loved the life we've made And I'm so glad...

Yesterday was the fourth anniversary of Son #3 and his bride!  Life was so busy with a two hour ortho appointment for Son # 4--braces off!!!--and babysitting Granddaughter #1, I did not get a chance to post!  { i know, terrible excuses! } But I do want to wish the happy couple a happy anniversary! Happy Anniversary! Daddy and I love you and are very proud of you both!!! XOXO 

We are into the 4th day of Bible school, and Daughter #1 and Grandson are home for a bit of a visit!!!!  So...I did not post something special yesterday and almost was ready to leave for VBS and realized that something else was almost missed!!!!!! Yesterday, Son #2 and his lovely bride, celebrated their third anniversary!!!!  Happy third Anniversary, you two!  Today, Daughter-in-law #3 is celebrating her twenty-something birthday!  Happy Brithday Daughter!!! There, I feel better and I still have ten minutes before I need to leave of the church!

Today is Son #2 and wife's second anniversary!  HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!!!! This is their engagement picture. They look the same, except Son #2's hair is a bit  longer on top, and Daughter in law has the baby glow  in her face now.
