Hello December!

They say that time flies when your having fun.  While that may be true, I have noticed that time flies even if you are not having fun.  Maybe it is old age....errr....getting older.  In two short months I will be fifty-three!  I do not think that is old, just getting older! This month seems to be moving along a bit too quickly for me.  Maybe it is because of the amount of things I need to accomplish in so little of a time.  For instance, the family has been wanting to put up the Christmas tree since Thanksgiving.  It just got put up on Friday, the ninth.  Not only was it late getting up, but it is not our usual 7 foot tree.  This year we have a 4 foot tree up on a table.  It has been renamed from our Christmas tree to our "Humble Tree".  Humble indeed.  The base is missing.  Son #4 and I had to create a base for it.  It was firm until the ornaments started going on....so if you tilt your head to the left it looks li...

Wedding Project

Since late fall of 2012 I have been working on and off for a young bride making some things for her engagement and wedding.  It started with invitations for an engagement party that her mom was giving.  Next came "Save the Date" and now the wedding packets.  Her theme has been peacocks and the main color is brown.  (Her last name is Peacock and she is becoming a Brown!) I did not take pictures of the engagement party invitation or the Save the Date announcements. But...I did get some pictures of the wedding packets!   Every piece of card stock sprayed with a pearl shimmer Invitation had a lace punch on each side. Each invitation took 10 punches, two punches broke and the third started to stick!  (more on that later!) Belly Bands for invitations, initial is stamped and heat embossed (these are for the invitations, but the same was made for the packet that will hold the information for the wedding) Packet to hol...

End of Summer Vacation

Monday morning, 8 o'clock sharp, we will be back in school!  I am not sure who is more excited, me or the scholars.  Of course that means that I will be up around 5, scholars up at 6, devotions, breakfast, and school started no later than eight!  Lockers are ready, desk/dining room table will be ready, school supplies are distributed! It also means my "play" time with crafting will be limited to only evenings! *no smile* Here is a little project that I worked on today with my best friend Bonnie.  It is a recipe card book for a little gal at church who is getting married next month.  I thought it turned out really cute!  (the stamped images are Stampin' Up!, -of course- but the paper is something I had on  hand for quite a while)  I used my Zutter Bind-It-All and finished it with ribbon on hand in my ribbon drawer. (1) The book measures 4.25" x 5.5"  Label on front I printed on the computer using       ...

Weekend

Ahhh!  After cleaning the house and catching up on mountains of laundry, I was able to sit down and make a couple of cards.  I made one for Son #2, whose birthday is the fourth of this month.  I know I can show the card here safely because he never checks my blog! I really had fun doing this card.  I used the brayering technnique I learned at   Michelle Zindorf's  workshop.  Daughter-in-law #2 liked it and wanted to make Son #2 a card with Granddaughter #1's foot print. This was the first time she has brayered and I think she did a great job!  I did the embossing of the feet and set up the masking for the brayering.  Even though we I did not get the foot inked all the way around, I think it gave it the look of "foam" from the water!

An Amazing Day

My time is short right now and I will post more about this later, but today was an amazing day!  I was able to do something that was a dream come true, and that was to attend a brayering class, beginner and advanced, given by  Michelle Zindorf !  Let me say amazing!  Not to mention the three amazing friends who made my dream come true!  Pinch me!  I want to make sure this day was real and not a dream!

Thankful Day 22

I am thankful for rubber stamps, card stock, ink, scissors, cutting/scoring tools and adhesives!  Silly things to be thankful for, I know.  I love to stamp, I love to create.    I am also thankful for a Stampin' Up! demonstrator that is the top of the tops!  She warm, wonderful  and creative.  She loves what she does and sharing with others.   (still waiting on the brayering technique.  **wink, wink** kathy!)  Her stamp clubs are fun and I stamp with the best "Thumpers"!  Stamping, creating, yes I am thankful.  It is my "ahhh" in life.

Busy Week!

Last week was a very busy week with our Vacation Bible School!  Five days of running hubby to and from work which meant  five more days of gas we usually do not use!  I worked in the kitchen this year for the first time instead of teaching.  Some thought my "talent" of teaching was wasted, and the kitchen was a "no brainer".  But the kitchen is a very busy place when trying to feed 150 plus people every evening.  Anyway, I had fun.  My feet, more so my right foot, hurt and it was hard to walk, but God gave grace to my back and it did not hurt once!!!  That was a real blessing! Sunday was all day at church.  Not only was it the closing program for our VBS, but we also celebrated our pastor's 20th anniversary at the church.  We had a HUGE pitch-in dinner on grounds and a special program.  My hubby and I helped in the kitchen ALL day.  There were a total of seven adults that made sure the food did not run out and kept everything...
