The Blessing of Being a Grandparent

I remember when I was younger our church had an evangelist preach every year for Grandparents Day.  His name was B.M. Page.  I am not even sure if he ever preached on the blessings of being a grandparent.  Truthfully, I can not remember anything he preached.  I only remember his one 'famous' saying, "Cheer up, you'll soon be dead!"   I do recall my mother asked our pastor what were the duties of a grandparent to the grandchildren, and he said, "None."  That bothered my mom and kind of bothered me also.  The only grandparent I had was my dad's mom.  She lived in Henning, Illinois and we did not get to see her as often as we would have liked.  She died when I was ten.  I do remember that she loved me.  I remember asking her once if she was a Christian and she said she tried to be a good one.  I am not sure what she meant by that statement.  I pray that she did know the Savior and I will s...

Pictures to Share

Yes! I have some pictures! The first are of the youngest three grands.  Granddaughter "J" Grandson "E" with Uncle #7 Youngest Grandson "C" being fed by Auntie #7 Poor Lucy, she is so totally not impressed with the Grands!   Aunties and Uncles are great!  Our youngest two are having fun.  This is really the first time they have had the chance to take care of the younger ones!  I love it! Now, crafting... Using these... ...I made this!     I saw this project on a blog and fell in love with it.  My wonderful Stampin' Up! demonstrator made one and said from start to finish it only took a little over an hour!  Oh my, she was so right and it was so fun!   I made the bird using a SU! products, Elegand Bird Bigz diecut, Big Shot, Silver Glimmer paper, Ridinghood Red ink pad, Bird Builder punch (for the leaves), Old Olive cardstock, Bakers Twine, and retired j...

Momma Missing Little Momma

Just a few more days and Daughter #1 will be home for a visit with Grandson!  Fort Bragg, NC is too far away!  I am grateful for the time and energy she puts in to be able to come home for short visits. I am so very thankful for the Grands that I have close to home!  {I love all my babies...children, in-loves, and grands!}

Grandson #2, Grandson #1 Grandson #3, Granddaughter #1 (June 30, 2012) Today our second grandson turns four!  Where does the time go? Daughters and Grandbabies

A couple of weeks or so ago we took a day off school and made it a field trip since Daughter #1 was home with her hubby and my newest grand!  Almost the entire clan went to the Children's Museum.  We had so much fun, but not enough time! This is a picture of two of the grandbabies on their "horsie" ride!    Daughter-in-law #2, Daughter #1 Granddaughter #1, Grandson #3

Meeting Newest Grand

We met our newest grandbaby!  Oh so sweet!  He is so tiny, even if he is now 9 pounds and 2 ounces!  This is a picture of Hubby and Grandson #3.  He was not a happy camper, Grandson-not Pawpaw!  (I have a CD of pictures of the last 2 days but my computer won't open it!  ERRRRRR!) We babysat the two youngest grandbabies tonight while Sons #2 and 3 with their wives, Daugher #1 and her hubby, Daughter #2 and fiancee, and Daughter #3 went to "experience" hullabaloo of the NFL downtown tonight before the Super Bowl tomorrow.  Why in the world they would want to go was beyond me.  Everything is so expensive, it was cold and rainy, and massive crowds of people!  They were gone less than two hours--we live close enough that Hubby dropped them off and went back for them.  They said it was just a big party scene with a bunch of drunks.  "Maybe" if they went during the day, or a day or two ago it may have been different, ...

Just had to Share

We found out yesterday evening that Daughter #1, Son-in-law #1 AND NEWEST GRANDSON are coming home for six days to visit!!!!! YAY!! We are all so excited!  They should be here early Thursday morning.  They plan to drive straight through from Fort Bragg, SC.  They will be tired but it will be so wonderful to hold my newest grand! Newest grand (Grandson #3) had an ultrasound on his kidney yesterday.  They saw before he was born one kidney was not functioning properly.  The ultrasound yesterday showed there were no changes and they would need to meet with a specialist.  I had Granddaughter #1 for a couple of hours today.  She was fussy, but such a joy to have.  I found out she like the play gym WITHOUT the boppi!  She was so much happier when the boppi was removed!  Ahhh!  Babies, LOVE THEM!!!  Big children, little children, adult children, LOVE THEM TOO! Life doesn't get much sweeter than th...

Waiting Almost Over

Daughter #1 is in labor and Baby is almost here.  It has been a day, and we are not even in the same state.  The Army sure has their own way of doing things with Mommy-to-be!  (I'll leave that one alone!)  Anyway, the long wait of the day is almost over! I wish I could run to her room and pick her up and soothe her fears, tears, and pains away.  I think this  has been harder on me than when I gave birth to her! I promise I will be back with news of our newest Grand and hopefully a picture!  And I promise it won't be two weeks!!!!

Son #2 Christmas Picture

Thought I would share a couple of photo's of Son #2 and family.  We received these two pictures as a Christmas present!  We had a wonderful Chilson Christmas! (Although we were sad to be without two of the grandchildren and Daughter #1 and her hubby.) Son and Daughter-in-law #2 with Granddaughter #1 This picture was of Granddaughter #1 'spilling' out of a gift box! (she always has her fist in her face!) *********** Here is a picture of Grandson's #1 and #2 with Granddaughter #1

Bits and Pieces

Life has been a bit busy here at home.  We, or should I say "I", am trying to get back to a normal life since Thanksagiving and Mother's death.  I am having a hard time.  I feel like I am just spinning my wheels. I have a couple of pictures to share.  Here are three of my grandbabies!  The two young men belong to Son #1 and  the young lady belongs to Son #2. Grandson #1, Granddaughter #1, Grandson #2 We kept our granddaughter over night Sunday!  (Son #2 took his wife out for her birthday.)  It has been a couple of years since I have  had to get up for middle of night feedings!!!!  It was worth every bit!  Love my grandbabies! This is what you get to look forward to if you get your school work done first! (Daughter #4 with Granddaughter #1) Christmas is right upon us.  We still do not have our tree up or gifts bought.  I know!  I still have one birthday BEFORE Christmas and...

Tomorrow...

Tomorrow is my mom's funeral.  It will be the last time I see her sweet precious face until I reach heaven's shores.  Tomorrow 31 of her 39 grandchildren will be singing "Victory in Jesus".  (In our family there are no in-laws.  You marry into the family, that's it, you are family.  So out of the 39 grands and great-grands 8 have married into the family!)  The grands were practicing tonight, and I could have sworn that I saw Mom's 'smile' getting bigger.  Okay, maybe not, but if it could have it would have.  Yep, she would be proud. I know she is not here, but I just have to say it, "I love you, Mommy!"

Thankful Day 19

I am thankful for grandchildren.  My hubby and I have been blessed with six grandchildren and a new one-to-be, due mid-January.  It is so nice to see how my grown children parent their nesters, and how my younger nesters interact with their neices and nephews! Grandbabies...Mammi loves you and is thankful for each one of you!
