Happy Fall!

Autumn...my most favorite season.  Love the cool days with a bit of warm sunshine.  The smell of wet leaves...the feel of dry leaves crunching underfoot.  This month has been busy.  Each weekend has been filled with a youth or church activity for the teens and will continue to be that way until at least mid-October.  Then I think there is only one Saturday with nothing on the calendar until soccer and volleyball tournaments at the end of the month. We have celebrated three birthdays this month and our anniversary is the 24th.  Of course with youth activity and a grands birthday party our celebration of 33 years will have to wait until another day! I have a few pictures of cards to share... These were made for some college students in South Carolina. I try to send a card each month to keep the PO boxes dusted! :) This was a sympathy card.  The jar is stamped on the paper and then again on some clear thin plastic to make it app...

Late Posting of Another September Birthday

Okay, I am going to have to work on post headings for birthdays.  We have several months that we celebrated multiple birthdays and I fear that the headings are bit on the 'blah' side! So, with that out of the way... On Friday, the 19th of September, Daughter #2, who just happens to carry the title of Child #6, celebrated her 22nd birthday!  I remember being  in labor and watching the Miss America pageant.  Our little Miss America was born just four minutes before midnight.  It has been a wonderful 22  years!   HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAUGHTER #2! YOU ARE A BLESSING AND DADDY AND I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH! WE TRUST YOU  HAD A SPECIAL DAY! XO <3 MOMMA

Birthday Celebrations Continue!

Today we are celebrating Daughter #2!  Today she is 21!  Oh my!  That is hard to believe!  It does not seem like she should be 21, but time marches forward! D#2 in my go-getter!  When she sets her mind to something she will see it through to the end!  If you look up the word "determined" in the dictionary you would most likely see a picture of her! *smile* Happy Birthday Daughter! We love  you and are so thankful that God gave you to us! xoxo Love, Daddy and Momma

Things That Make This Momma Proud

Sometimes in my life I wonder if I have really made a difference in my children's lives.  I had a mother that gave up a nursing career to raise her babies.  She never regretted becoming a stay-at-home-mom even when money was tight.  So it never really came to my mind to be anything but a SAHM.  I had a couple of jobs as a teen.  For a very short time I was a waitress and worked at Arby's.  My "income" was mainly babysitting.  I had a full tuition scholarship to a Christian college in Florida, but never was really interested in becoming a graduate with a degree in anything but an MRS degree.  After a semester I packed up and came home to be a stay-at-home-daughter.  I babysat at home full-time for less than a year.  The the lady I babysat for decided to become a SAHM.  A short time later I became engaged.  You can probably guess the rest of the story...I got married, had babies--lots of babies--and lived ha...

Giving Thanks...Day Two

I am thankful for a healthy family.  Over the twenty-seven years of parenting, we have seen many childhood illness and survived preterm babies.  Though we have had monitors, oxygen, and life threatening events, we have been blessed with a healthy family. Today we take Daughter #2 to a specialist in Ohio some testing on her eye.  During a routine eye exam it was discovered she has a "bump" behind the iris of her left eye.  She was referred to another doctor in town for another exam.  Still not being able to determine what it is, we now are making a trip to Ohio for testing.  The doctors feel it is probably nothing to worry about, but we need to know what is going on. I am confident that no matter the outcome of the test, it will be okay.  God has seen us through many trials and we always come out blessed.

Another September Birthday

Today is a milestone birthday for Daughter #2...she turns 20 today!!! I can not believe how time has flown by.  I t seems like just yesterday we were bringing her home from the hospital. HAPPY BIRTHDAY DAUGHTER! WE LOVE YOU AND ARE PROUD OF YOU!!!

Thankful Day 8

I am thankful for Daughter #2.  She is engaged to be married, no date as of yet.  She is a hard worker and very responsible.  She does not know a stranger and is helpful to young and old alike.  I say she was born in the wrong era.  She loves what we call "Papa King" (my dad) music, big band like Glenn Miller and Tommy Dorsey.  Singers like Doris Day, Andrews Sisters, Dean Martin, and Perry Como.  She loves to read and always has her nose in a book, or two, or three.  Yep, she is unique! I love you Daughter, and I am thankful for  you!

Time Flies...

Well, I guess it has been a 'few' days since I have posted.  My days have filled with being wife, mommy, teacher, taxi driver, problem solver, seamstress, activities director, etc.  There are not enough hours in the day to get done what needs to be done.  I find myself often saying I need 48 hours to get done what I need to do in 24 hours!  Hmm...then it hit me today, I am not content!!!   In Philippians 4:11, Paul talks about being content.  The second part of the verse reads. "...for I have learned, in whatsoever state I am, therewith to be content."  I guess I have not learned to be content!  I want to be content, sometimes I think I am, but it is hard! My days are spent serving others...yes, I know, as a child of God, follower of Christ that is what I am to do.  J.O.Y.  J=Jesus--He is first, O=Others--family, friends, Y=You (well, me). No surprise in serving when being a wife and momm...

Another Happy Birthday!

In a large family it always seems like there is a birthday to celebrate!  Today is no exception. Today marks the last year in the 'teen years' for Daughter #2 as she turns nineteen! Happy 19th Birthday Daughter!!!

Just a Thought, Again! {edited}

Daughter #2 told me about a couple of comments made on Facebook about some "children's books".  You may have heard them, Tarzan running around half naked, Cinderella comes home at mid-night, Pinnochio lies all the time, Aladdin is the king of thieves, Batman drives 200 mph, Sleeping Beauty is lazy, and Snow White lives with seven guys, "We shouldn't be surprised when kids misbehave, they get it from their story books." Here was her reply to one of them: "Tarzan saves the primate families Cinderella learned how to cook, clean, sew, serve, etc. (and in the sequels, she doesn't desert her family even though she's married to Prince Charming. She knows that family is so important, not matter what ... KIND of family you have.) Pinocchio learned his lesson (albeit the hard way; but that's what parents want: for kids to learn their lesson, even if it's the hard way, as much as it breaks their heart) Aladdin stopped stealing an...

The Longest Day of the Year...First Official Day of Summer

It has been a busy, but productive day.  I have washed 5 loads of laundry, {still not finished!} and made a set of  twelve cards.  So cute! {not the laundry, the cards!}  But the first day of summer brings a family tradition...besides our DIL birthday!  Every year we pull our a couple of eggs to stand on end.  So much fun!  I was the first one to get it to stand on end!  Yay me!  See!  It really does stand by itself!!! The egg originally was Daughter #3's egg, but she was having trouble.  She got another egg out a bit later and got it to stand and it is still standing 6 hours later!!!  I'll let it stay until it falls. As for my egg, Daughter #2 accidentally knocked it over before supper.  We got it up, but it got knocked over and while trying to upright it it ended up with a nick in the bottom!

A Little Old Fashion and I'm Liking It!

Last night Daughter #2 went to a soccer game with a friend, who is also a male, and his family from our church.  As usual he walked her to the door and into the house.  He told me he wanted to ask Hubby's permission to date Daughter #2! I was very impressed!  The two have been friends for a couple of years, and even better friends this year.  I took a lot of courage for him to ask.  Not only that, it shows that he has been raised right.  His mother kept reminding him it was the right thing to do!  And I am glad he did. Yes, a little old fashion, and I'm liking it!

New News!

After a full day of Daughter #2 Graduation Open House, Daughter #1, stationed at Ft. Bragg, NC, called.  She wanted both her dad and I on the phone at the same time.  Well, you know what that means, BIG NEWS!  Yep!  Daughter #1 is expecting her first bundle of joy in January! Then Son #2's wife called to say she felt her babe move for the first time!  Wow!  Graduation Open House, news of a bundle of joy, and feeling the signs of life stirring within for the first time! {uh,for daugher-n-law, not me}  Yep, it was a blessed day!

Graduation

Well, if you have been following my blog, you will notice the count down timer for graduation is gone!  Last night was the graduation ceremony of Daughter #2.  It was a very sweet and special time. Our pastor spoke about faith...{our school name is Faith Christian Academy}.  His message was from 2 Timothy where Paul is speaking to Timothy about the faith that was "passed" down, or should I say taught to him.  Paul tells of the "unfeigned faith" of Timothy, that first dwelt in his grandmother Lois, who taught it to his mother Eunice, that was taught to Timothy.  It was a very good message. As usual, I do not have pictures!  That is what happens when "one" does not have a camera...or should I say batteries and a camera card!  Mine "disappeared"!  I think one of the scholars used their sister's camera to get some pictures, but I will be lucky to get those on my laptop!
