Family Picture and Birthday Celebration

This evening we celebrated a belated birthday party for Grandson C's first birthday.  He turned one on September 18, but we are just now getting around to celebrating with his party.

I know I still need to blog and post pictures from other birthday celebrations, but since the entire family was present for a family picture, including my favorite sister (who happens to be my only sister), I really wanted to get this posted.

It was crazy, loud, and chaotic at times tonight, but we had the best time.  You should have seen us after the sugar rush of ice cream and cake!

Below are the lyrics to a song I use to hear while I was growing up.  A man from the church I grew up as a child use to sing this.  It always was a blessing to hear him sing it.  He and his wife had 5 children and I babysat for them often.  I always wanted a little family like theirs and God blessed me and Hubby many times over!  (Corey Kennedy, if you are reading this, the family was your sweet hubby's family!)  I sing this song sometimes while driving by myself.

The chorus is so true, I do have a roof above me.  Yes it needs to be replaced, but it is a roof and it keeps me protected from the elements of the weather.  I do have a good place to sleep.  I may not have a Sleep Number Bed, but I do have a mattress to lay my weary body on at night and I am not having to sleep on a mat on the floor.  My table always has food on it at meal times.  It may not be a gourmet meal or even something that is close to being my favorite, but I do have food!  My shoes are worn and have seen some better days, but not only do I have shoes, I have feet so I can wear shoes!  I must not ever forget that I have the love of God.  He loves me, always has, and always will.  And my family...well we are in it for the times of plenty and not so plenty.  I could not ask any more of my Lord than what He has given me!

Verse I

As the world looks upon me, as I struggle along
They say I have nothing, but they are so wrong
In my heart I'm rejoicing, how I wish they could see
Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me

Chorus

There's a roof up above me
I've a good place to sleep
There's food on my table
And shoes on my feet
You gave me your love Lord
And a fine family
Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me

Verse II

Now I know I'm not wealthy, and these clothes , they're not new
I don't have much money, but Lord I have you
And to me that's all that matters, though the world cannot see
Thank you Lord, for your blessings on me

(I believe the credit of this song belongs to the Easter Brothers.)

  1. This just made me cry!! I miss my wonderful father-in-law so very much!! God blessed me to have him for 18 years of my life. He treated me like one of his own and loved me as much as I loved him! Roger was a very special man, and he raised a wonderful husband/father for me and my girls!

    1. I know Corey! I always looked up to him and Terri. I loved their sweet family and they were ALWAYS my favorite to babysit! Oh how I wish our lives would have been that we all did not go our separate ways and still worshipped in the same House of God. But, that is what happens when babysitter gets married and babysitting kiddos grow and eventually have their own sweet families! Hugs!

My Mother's Gentle Love

My Mother's Gentle Love by Ron Hamilton Who puts a band-aid on my knee? Who holds me close so tenderly? Who always sees the best in me? There’s no one like mother. Who always wipes my tears away? Who tells me I’ll be great some day? Who cares in such a gentle way? There’s no one like mother. My mother’s gentle love, my mother’s gentle love Has taught me of God’s tender care, and turned my eyes above. I’ll bless her all my days for all her gentle ways. Oh, how I thank my Lord above for my mother’s gentle love. Today is my mother's viewing, and tomorrow is her funeral.  The song above so much describes my mom.  She loved her four children so very much!  Before she had children, she was a nurse for "special care" babies~~"old" term for NICU.  Once she started having children she gave  up her career to stay at home and raise her own babies. Thanks, Mom! Thank you, Daddy, for allowing Mom to stay at home and raise us four children! My mother and her mo

Life....

Busy.  That seems to describe life in our home.  Just day to day busy.  Nothing really noteworthy.  Life moves on.   Let me think, since I last posted.... well, let me back up to about a month before my last post.  Daughter #6 got married in October of 2022...today Son #7 got married.  So, I have gained another son and another daughter! Our youngest graduated from high school in May and our oldest grandchild graduated the following day!  From our oldest child to our youngest, we have 33 years of education. (I'm tired just thinking about it!!) Still only 13 grandchildren.  Hubby is still in education.  I keep things going on the home front.  I help out the families where and when needed.  I still make cards for the card ministry that I have been doing for 19 years.  I still crochet.   That about sums up life at this point.  Have a wonderful day!

Remembering Mom

Eleven years ago, today, my mom entered the gates of heaven.   My heart still breaks, hurts, and grieves.  But I know I will see her one day.  It seems like it has been a lifetime.  My youngest was only 6 1/2, now she is 17 1/2, a senior in high school and trying to choose between two colleges.  My oldest was 26 with young children and now is 37 and his crew is growing up too quickly!   My oldest grandchild was 6 and now is 17 and a senior in high school.  My youngest grandchild was only 6 weeks old and now is eleven.  Eight of my thirteen grandchildren have been born since that day.    Mom Mom's Viewing My children, taken about 6 weeks before  Mom died. I miss you, Mom!
