Week-End/Week-Begin

A week has ended and a new one has begun.  It was a busy Saturday just as I expected.  I had a nice surprise when we went to church on Saturday morning.  The teens left for visitation and the Sunday school class our "generation of wisdom",(older folks), had a corn hole tournament and chili/hotdog lunch.  Our associate pastor's daughter was home with her hubby from Alabama!  They were only "home" for the day and had to leave  this morning, but I was so thrilled to see her!  She was married this spring and this was her first trip home since she moved away!!

Today is a milestone.  Our 8th child, 5th son, turned 14!!  "HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY DEAR SON!!"

Church was wonderful!  Always is!  Preaching was fantastic, this morning and evening!  One verse that was part of our text today was Colossians 3:2, "Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth."  How many times do we get on minds set on the things of this world?  What trouble we set ourselves up for by not seeking "those things which are above", v. one.  Our minds need to be on Him, because as a child of God, we are not our own.  I need to be reminded of this daily, minute by minute.  Even more so with the big responsibility raising children!

The teen chili supper was this evening and I think we had a pretty good turn out!  As I understand it, everything we brought in tonight was profit!!!  Thank you church family for the awesome work with our teens!!!!!

Tomorrow will be back to the grind of school!  OH!!!  I haven't pulled test and quizzes for tomorrow!!!!!  Well, I guess I know what I need to do!

My Mother's Gentle Love

My Mother's Gentle Love
by Ron Hamilton
Who puts a band-aid on my knee?
Who holds me close so tenderly?
Who always sees the best in me?
There’s no one like mother.

Who always wipes my tears away?
Who tells me I’ll be great some day?
Who cares in such a gentle way?
There’s no one like mother.

My mother’s gentle love, my mother’s gentle love
Has taught me of God’s tender care, and turned my eyes above.
I’ll bless her all my days for all her gentle ways.
Oh, how I thank my Lord above for my mother’s gentle love.

Today is my mother's viewing, and tomorrow is her funeral.  The song above so much describes my mom.  She loved her four children so very much!  Before she had children, she was a nurse for "special care" babies~~"old" term for NICU.  Once she started having children she gave up her career to stay at home and raise her own babies. Thanks, Mom!

Thank you, Daddy, for allowing Mom to stay at home and raise us four children!
